Allan Harvey was born in South Wales. For the last 20 years he has lived and worked in London. In the late '80s he worked with others to bring the cyber-punk fanzine THE HARDCORE into existence, and continued to write and draw comic strips within its pages until 1993. He regularly produces work for the APA 247 amateur press association. In 1995 he became the Central Mailer, organising the financial aspects of the association, and stayed in the hot seat for three years. He has been a member of the Comics Creators Guild since 1993 and has produced several covers for their regular newsletter. He recently began writing and drawing a regular bi-weekly cartoon strip for the CCG web site which focuses on the wild world of comics fandom. Allan lists his artistic influences as including such diverse stylists as Jack Kirby, Colleen Doran, Adam Hughes, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jim Steranko, Alphonse Mucha and the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Wearing his writer's hat, Allan recently authored an article on the Harry Potter phenomenon for George Beahm's book MUGGLES AND MAGIC published by Hampton Roads. Drawing on his extensive knowledge of comics history, he writes regularly for BACK ISSUE magazine.
